How to make this delicious, healthy smoothie. Ingredients in this recipe include: grapes, basil, flax seeds, soy milk, kelp powder, and lemongrass. Grapes are rich in antioxidants and high in Vitamin C and K. Basil is a very nutrient-dense food; it’s nearly calorie free and anti-inflammatory. Basil provides a wide range of vitamins and antioxidants, especially Vitamin K. Flax gives you heart-healthy omega-3 fats which are vegan and cholesterol-free. Kelp is a natural source of iodine, which supports the thyroid and healthy metabolism. Lemongrass is popular in Southeast Asian cooking for its citrus flavor. Since lemongrass is very high in fiber, if you don’t have a high powered blender (like a Vitamix), you could omit the lemongrass or make the smoothie with lemongrass tea. Soy milk is great because of the high protein but the phytoestrogens in it might make it preferable for women. You could use another high protein plant-based milk like hemp, or a cashew-pea protein blend. This shake makes an excellent breakfast smoothie! You could also make it to compliment a Thai lunch or dinner. The recipe makes 2 servings so you can share the goodness with a friend. Cheers!
