In this article, we will discuss what is male infertility vasography analysis?

I. Definition

Vasography is a radiographic study of the vas deferens. An x-ray is taken once a contrast medium is injected.

II. Procedure

A small ultrasound probe is placed against the scrotum or into the rectum. If vasography is performed, radiographic dye is injected into the vas deferens (a tube connecting the site where the sperm is stored to the duct that expels it) and ejaculatory ducts. An X-ray is taken as the dye flows through the ducts.

III. Diagnosis

It helps to determine if the vas deferens is blocked or not and the reason of such blockage. In this study:

a) if there is large amount of sperm containing fluid presented when the it is open, it indicate there is a block appeared in the vesicle end of the vas deferens. If there is no fluid presented, the procedure continue until the cause of blockage is found, if there is one.

b) The procedure is also perform on the other side of vas deferens.

c) The test sometimes found the blockage in the ejaculating duct, then surgical correction may be require.

d) It sometimes may found the problem is caused by blockage in the groin region, it can be corrected by surgery.
