Old Drugs, New Tricks: Remdesivir and Other Potential Treatments for COVID19

As the coronavirus and COVID19 pandemic continues, researchers are investigating some older drugs that may be viable treatments for the disease. One drug of interest is remdesivir, a decade old drug intended to treat hepatitis. It was never a great success for that, but it may be helpful in treating coronaviruses. One thing that is established is that it is safe for use in humans, which is a HUGE regulatory hurdle. If it turns out to be effective, we already know it is safe.
