How to Best Treat a Blocked Hair Follicle

Blocked hair follicles are usually the result of sebum accumulation. Sebum is oil that is secreted by follicles to moisturize and protect the scalp as well as the hair. Sebum can collect dust particles and a lot of other foreign bodies. When it does this it forms some thing that is known as dandruff. Dandruff is the problem causer as it can block hair follicles. Because of the accumulated dandruff and foreign bodies a hair follicle in telogen phase fails to completely shed its hairs, thus resulting in a blockage which was mainly caused by dandruff. When hair follicles are blocked, this can result in folliculitis which is the formation of something similar to acne. The pimples are caused as a result of the hairs that remain trapped in the follicles, thus an immune reaction results in the formation of pass which will lead to destruction of the hair follicle.

The best way to deal with blocked hair follicles will be to trim the hair. When the hair is trimmed, it allows telogen hairs to be shed, leaving room for new hairs to grow undisturbed. When you have trimmed your hair you can now treat with shampoo that is designed to deal with loss problems. A good shampoo to use will be shampoo that contains Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is an anti-fungicide and an anti-bactericide. This shampoo helps eliminate all foreign particles that contribute to follicle blockages. Shampoo helps completely remove dandruff from the scalp. Dandruff is one of the major causes of loss as it harbors pathogens that can penetrate follicles and block them thus causing loss.

There is also an inherited condition that can cause blocked follicles. These are genetic inherited disorders of the hair shaft. Due to genetics some people produce hairs that have defected hair shafts. These hairs fail to properly emerge from the hair follicles thus blocking the hair follicles. The result is usually necrosis which kills the hair, resulting in hair loss. An antibacterial shampoo can be used to solve this problem. Topical applications of Ketoconazole will also help limit the damage caused by this condition.

If you are suffering from hair loss that is caused by blocked hair it will be wise to prevent exposing your scalp to direct sunlight. UV radiation harms the skin on the scalp thus elevating the problem that would have already been caused by blocked follicles. When you expose your scalp to too much sunlight you will also be destroying the medication you would have applied, thus reducing its potency. This is so, for most medicines breakdown when they are exposed to direct sunlight, so it is advised that when you are applying your medication to deal with blocked follicles you have to keep your scalp covered. You can cover your scalp with a hat or a cap each time you go out where there is sunlight. That way you will definitely solve your hair loss problem.
