Dandruff Home Treatments – 3 Powerful Dandruff Home Treatments
Before we talk about dandruff home treatments, it is important to understand why you have dandruff.
Do you know why you have dandruff?
There are several reasons behind the development of dandruff and I’m not going to run through all of them, but I’m going to share some of the most common causes.
The most common cause of dandruff is right in front of our noses. Most shampoos contain chemicals that damage our hair follicles and scalp. These chemicals are also used in harsh products like engine degreaser and washing powder.
Diet plays a huge role in determining whether or not you will suffer with dandruff. With today’s fast-paced world it is often difficult to make good food choices, and so we rely on processed and fast food. By having an un-balanced diet and insufficient nutrition, you are leaving your scalp “hungry” and “malnourished”, wanting healthy foods to feed off.
Stress is also a very common cause of dandruff. Have you ever heard that the stress goes straight to your head? The people that came up with that phrase weren’t lying. Poor blood circulation causes the glands that produce sebum to be off balance. The glands then over or under produce, which can cause dandruff to develop.

Using essential oils in a natural PH balanced shampoo works wonders in controlling dandruff. No one can ever get rid of dandruff, but we can control it. Try using a mixture of tea tree oil, neem oil and lavender oil in your natural shampoo. Tea tree oil is wonderful for anti-fungal problems as well as soothing the irritation. Neem oil is as powerful as cortisone, but without the harmful side effects. Lavender oil works magic with relaxation. It will rejuvenate that scalp and help you relax.

This is a wonderful anti-itching remedy. Take a quarter cup of oatmeal and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Mix well and then strain the liquid adding it to a cup. Add 5 drops of lavender oil and 5 drops of rosemary oil. Allow it to cool until it’s moderately warm. Mix the liquids together and dab on your scalp. Leave it on for 10 minutes to soothe the itch. This is a good temporary soother and home treatment for dandruff.
