Turns out that blood sugar surges (from carbs) make stressful events physiologically more stressful than pure fat 🥑, protein 🥩 and/or fasting.
Save this for the next time a dietitian or doctor tells you to “carb up” before your presentation, big test or social event.

————————————– About this Study———————————-
In this study, subjects were exposed to the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) which is a 5-minute mental arithmetic taste performed in from of an audience of people.
As you can see from the chart above, subjects who fasted for eight hours or had pure protein or pure fat had similar salivary cortisol levels during this social stress test.
But the subjects how drink a glucose drink prior to the stress-test had significantly higher cortisol levels after the stress-test, which remained significantly elevated for an hour after the test.
Yet another example about how different sources of calories (e.g. carbs, protein and fat) impact human physiology differently!
P.S. Shawn @shawnbaker1967 and I discussed this study on his podcast, and possibly why vegans are so accepting and accommodating of others! 😂
P.PS. This is why I do all my presentations, big meetings and interviews FASTED!
