Bodybuilding – The Bodybuilding Weight Gain Grocery List
If you’re currently on a bodybuilding plan that is tailored towards helping you see a weight gain, you will need to pay very special attention to your diet. Diet is going to account for about 90% of the results you see, therefore if you aren’t ensuring that you take care of this aspect of things, you’ll definitely be shorting yourself of the results you could be seeing.
I can’t tell you how many people come to me asking, “What foods should I eat to gain weight?” Everyone is searching for that elusive secret that will magically make the pounds appear.
While there is no single magical food that will do this, there is definitely some that will work better than others.
The following is a list of foods that should use as your ‘base bodybuilding diet’. If you can eat these every single day, in addition to your normal three meals, you will get a good jumpstart on weight gain.
All of the foods listed below (and their specified quantities) will total to about 2500 calories, 180 grams of protein, 85 grams of fat, and 253 grams of carbs which is what an average guy will maintain his weight on. This means that any food you eat additional to this, will then go towards the muscle building process.
For convenience sake, all of the foods below are very easy to prepare and take with you wherever you might be going throughout the day, be it work, school, or just everyday life.
There are no rules as to when you must eat these foods, just as long as you do get them it – that’s all that matters.
The List
Bagels – 3 regular sized
Peanuts – 1 cup
Can of Tuna – 2 cans
Protein powder – 2 scoops
Milk – 3 cups
By eating this every single day, you will
A. Be sure you at least are eating enough calories so you don’t lose weight
B. Be sure that you are meeting your protein requirements, so if you get busy you won’t have to worry about losing muscle mass from not eating enough protein
C. Be getting enough healthy fat in your diet to keep testosterone levels where they should be, which will then indirectly promote muscle growth.
So, put these items on your grocery list today. Then, get creative and add any other foods you like to eat to help further see the weight gain you’re looking for.
